Hi All,

Looking for help and advice please! Based in Brighton, work In Haywards Heath.

So I have a 118d 2005, pic below, due MOT 9th July. Mileage 125k

I'm away on holiday until the 14th, thought I'd put it through the MOT before I went on holiday.

I knew the ABS light was on and was getting the reason for this checked before I put it through the MOT. The light is down to the ABS pump apparently. The garage are saying this is £850 from BMW minimum, or they can get a company to refurb for around £350.

Has anyone any experience of refurb ABS pumps?

Thanks

PJ

That’s reassuring thanks, I’ve been quoted around £350 for this (inc fitting etc), sound about right?

£350 sounds about right for it fitted and (I assume) brakes bled and fluid changed.

I paid around £300 a couple of years ago with a 5 year warranty, done buy a BMW specialist.

Basically the pump is fine, but the solder dries out on the control board. Additional benefit of a refurb is that it doesn’t have to be coded to your car like a new one.

Go with the refurb providing it’s a lifetime warranty... ask the question. I also used ecutesting and they were great.

I have a perfect used one - it was new in 2015, not much use since.

Yours for 70 quid.

Check the part number though.

Reckon on 1.5 hours to fit it and pressure bleed the brakes. Check the part nos but 4 cyl ones are usually this unit.
