Hi,
I am looking at a 2008 X5 currently where the dealer is saying the mileage is 80k miles. However, a HPI check is showing the mileage as being 130k miles. The dealer is saying that that's just a mixup and must have been recorded in KM during each MOT (all MOT's are showing as Miles).

Is there any way that I can conclusively determine the correct mileage on this X5?

Kind regards,

A.

Walk away, there are probably 10,000 for sale.

Only an idiot would buy a car with an issue in its history like that unless it is for no money.

ETA.

With the reg number you can go onto DVLA website & get the history of every MOT.

However the MoT history can be wrong. One of my Land Rovers shows a jump from 80,000 miles to 127,000 miles between one MoT. The most surprising thing is, the Land Rover is old and milometer only reads to 99,999 miles and will reset back to zero after that. It is currently on 90 something thousand.

You are absolutely correct, I bought one like that too but made sure the price reflected the possibility that its mileage COULD have been shaved by a lot of miles, based on the fact that it is only worth peanuts after I am done with it.
