BMW Service plan
Discussion
I bought a car in November 2017 which was previously owned by BMW and had covered 9800 miles. I was sold a service plan which was a one off cost for three years. I do not recall any discussion by the dealer about mileage restrictions. All I was told is that it was possible to add this plan (normally sold with a new car) because the mileage was under 10k miles.
My car had a service under the plan in 2018. The car Idrive recently told me that the next service was due in 1200 miles. So, now the mileage is 38,000 and the dealer (different franchise to the one I bought it from) has told me the service plan has expired as the mileage is beyond 36,000. I feel I have definitely been mis-sold this service plan. How on earth is it possible for the plan to be sold to me at nearly 10k miles with a restricted mileage plan that clearly significantly, shortens the timeline?
I am really annoyed as the cost I have been quoted for the next service is £600 which should have been (ordinarily would have been) included in the one off cost upfront.
I have registered a complaint with the originally supplying dealer. They previously did me over with a boot liner they promised to reimburse but never did. I have bought a number of cars from this franchise (non BMW) and feel some goodwill is in order. Any views?
Regards Brin

Thanks for replies so far everyone.....I do not have a glossy brochure.....just the sum of the one off cost on the car invoice. I remember so clearly that I was looking at another car in another dealer (a long way away) and they had told me their car came with a 5 year plan, and the one I was looking at closer to home (the dealer I bought the car from) said the 5 year plans had expired but there was a new three year plan. No discussion that it was only going to run 26 months (the car was 10 months old) and 26 thousand miles. If they'd been clear I would never have bough the service plan (but I would have still bought the car as its a beut). Caveat emptor (Buyer beware) no doubt but it has P**ssed me off!
When Dad picked up his new BMW this year the sales guy asked what mileage he does. He then said that he won't bother offering the service plan asit's not good value for the mileage he would do. They often get people coming in for servicing with plans and they have to tell them that they have expired. The customer usually expect 3 free services but in reality only ever get 1 service out of it!

You normally get a glossy pack explaining what's included in the service pack, and what the limitations are - did you get one? Usually the T's & C's you accepted by buying the pack will be in there.
I didn't get a brochure when I bought mine - just an invoice to say that I'd paid for the three year servicing pack.Gassing Station | BMW General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
