Have an issue with my parents E90 318d, reminds me very much of the hedgehog issues that plagued my E39 540i so thought I'd double check before getting the mechanic on it with cash being a little tight currently. Car is a manual LCI '08 with about 130k miles. Beyond this the car hasn't put a foot wrong in the 9 years/110k miles they've had it.

In short the battery drains at random overnight, on closer observation it seems to do with the internal cabin HVAC blowers which:

Do not maintain a constant speed even when in full manual control and instructed to do so
On occasion continue to blow at full power, even when the car is off, locked and the key is removed - draining the battery

Owing to the above my mind says hedgehog - if so whats the likely cost to get it swapped over? - if not, what else could it be?

Part number 2 on this diagram is the current hedgehog equivalent, and yes, they can go bad. https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=PN32...
The current BMW part number is 64119265892, which supersedes a whole lot of older numbers.

No problem. Just remove the panel on the underside of the glovebox (and possibly the glovebox itself) and you should have clear access.
