On my previous car, an e92 there were little leaf collecting 'baskets' under the bonnet in the left and right corners nearest the windscreen which I emptied every so often. My f30 doesn't seem to have them. Are they standard in the f30 and are perhaps missing. I struggle to get my hands into the gap where the leaves and other crap accumulates.

You seem to have something missing. This is my F30 335d, note the arrow is where the (secret) manual dipstick is.

Thanks. I can't seem to find something for an f30 drain guard/leaf guard online. I can see one for most other bmw models. It's under auc so I will stop by the dealer and enquire.

OP, have you searched RealOEM.com, and put your last seven digits of your VIN?

Leaf grille left is part number 51717402081
Leaf grille right is part number 51717402082
But double check.
Rivets or screws may also be needed.

I had not looked on there thanks. How do you order parts? It wasn't obvious?

I guess you can from a dealer. I used to use Cooper BMW of Reading, who were surprisingly cheap (for BMW), and helpful on the phone too, if needed. I have lost their website, and am not sure if you can still do that now. I ordered several parts in the past for my E36, but my F30 is still within warranty, so no need (and so far not needed spares).
