I've always been interested in these since they launched and now I see they are coming to a conclusion later this year. I haven't read that they're making a replacement ?

Makes you think with just over 2k of these in the UK when will the residuals flat line and then climb.

The cheapest (BMWAUC) cars are 2015 30k miles are £48k. Is it the time to buy at this price point to enjoy for a period of time then protect ? will they become a sub 30k car in the next 5yrs or will they hold on ?

I think they've got a little bit more depreciation in them yet.

Hoping so anyway, as that's the only way I'll get one!

The wife got rid of her 2017 M4CP for one earlier this year. She absolutely loves it. I didn't think I'd like it but it's a hoot to drive, much better than the M4. The tech is very clever how it cuts between FWD, RWD and AWD using elec, petrol or both. Very smooth, rarely know it's happening. Was cutting edge on launch but I suspect this kind of tech dates very quickly. Once things like the eTron GT and M Vision Next are in production the i8 may start to look like a dinosaur. BUT - they are cheap as chips to run, pretty quick esp. mid-range - probably quicker than my Lambo and def. look the part. She gets a shed load of attention whenever she's out in it. I think they will drop a bit further and then maybe hold their value for some time. I can't see prices ever climbing that high. One thing, make sure you have a very long warranty. Known issues are drivetrain error messages popping up (could be nothing serious or a big problem) and fuel pressure release switches failing.

The first time I saw one of these parked on a city street it looked like a space ship compared to everything else. I would seriously consider one as a toe in the water to hybrid motoring.

One of the best and most surprising cars I've ever had.

Still looks incredible, rewarding, fun and genuinely nice to drive plus good real world performance. I suspect prices will start levelling out very soon.

There's a 68 plate 10k in HJ for 59k, Its a gorgeous immaculate car in the flesh....but nearly 50% in one year at a main dealer..gulp. Someone is going to get a real bargain there.

I suspect this is more about the state of the market than the car.

I'd love one but I couldn't really get in and out easily.

Mate of mine bought an 18 plate with less than 1000 miles on it a few months ago - was up at a main dealer for £58k, but another mate in the trade saw BMW had put it into auction as it wasn't selling and he bought it for a fair bit less via the auction. Seems there are deals to be had on these.

Still looks stunning, but it will be 20 years before you make a profit on one. Awesome car but BMW made far too many.

Mine in Wales a couple of weeks ago.
