Using loads of coolant
Discussion
Right, car dumped it’s load of coolant all over the road. Upper pipe had gone. Replaced and a new water pump.
Not fixed. Uses all its coolant within 2 miles and clouds of steam from one exhaust. Engine is the n62 4.8
Would a head gasket cause this much coolant use or more likely cracked block? Or something cheaper?!

Head gasket one bank - a pressure test will confirm. Forget having a head gasket done, it just doesn't work on these. A good used engine is a far better option. To be fair, it's not that common an issue.
Head gasket issues would have pressurised the system and blown the hose to start with.
