2013 F30 BMW 320d ED - Headlight Problem
Discussion
- the below is all hypothetical..*
Have searched but couldn't find anything on this, apologies if there is already a thread...
I have a 2013 F30 BMW 320d ED that, according to VIN decoder, left the factory with Xenons.
The previous owner to me has changed these for some Halogen units, and now I currently have the situation below:
Dipped Beam - works fine (although gets through bulbs quite regularly)
Main Beam - does not work at all (yes, have tried replacing bulbs etc.)
Side Lights - stay on for approx 5-10 mins after turning the engine off, locking the car etc.
Couple of questions...
Would it be possible (or worth it) getting somebody to try and finish off the bodge job to get the current Halogen units to work properly?
Or if I was to replace them, would I be best to replace them with genuine Xenons, aftermarket Xenons, genuine Halogens or aftermarket Halogens?
Thanks in advance.
This is the first time I've ever heard of anyone swapping Xenons for Halogens. I mean... why would you?! Bizarre.
Anyhow there's too many unknowns here, like was the footwell module swapped for the correct type? Was all the wiring ripped out & replaced with the correct type? It sounds like the footwell module is incorrect for the lights you have fitted. Do you have a headlight level adjuster? Xenon cars don't have one, Halogens do. Here's the 2 types:
Halogens (with level adjuster):

Xenons (no level adjuster):
