I’m just about to purchase a low mileage nearly 3yr old 335d but believe it has never been serviced, having only done 5k miles I think it should have had an oil change at 2 years. Should I be worried about this before I hand over my hard earned..?

And people worry that the 2 year service interval is too long smile

I’m going to guess that the car’s not approved used ?

If correct, I’d guess that you’ll struggle if you need to make certain warranty claims within the first Three years of the car’s life. If you’re considering buying an extended BMW warranty, I’d check the small print on cars that have missed services, or in this case, car’s that have never been serviced biggrin

If for any reason, you did still want to buy it.... I’d be going over it in minute detail, to try and confirm it’s only done the 5k.

No it’s approved used, I hadn’t asked about service history until recently and was told a day later it was in having a service before handover 🤨

It wants to be cheap then. I’d imagine the previous owner took a kicking.

Seems a bit mad really... Had the engine gone pop, the punter would have been looking at a five figure invoice, as BMW would have blamed the lack of service/terms and conditions etc.

Thirty quids worth of fluids later, a flick of the magic wand... “Maximus Profitus !”..... and hey presto, it’s got a new 12 month manufacturer warranty on it.

With mileage that low likely to have been used for short journeys so even 2 years before an oil change isn’t ideal. Diesels especially don’t like short journeys as they don’t warm up properly so I’d almost view the very low mileage as a negative

FWIW, I bought an AUC this April, registered 11/2016, so 2 years 5 months old. Saloon version of yours, 8500 miles for £19.3k.

£900 worth of options, so pretty basic, and the dealer had been stuck with it for 7 months. I did note, that they serviced it last September when they first had it in stock.

Thanks guys, think I need to ask a few questions before I part with the money tomorrow, as you say short trips wreck Diesel engines....!
