E61 Service indicator

My recently acquired E61 525 has popped up with a service due indicator. All fine except it says it's due in 12000 miles. It strikes me as an extremely early warning! Is that normal?

Is that the instrument cluster that throws up an amber warning for an immanent service due, and a Red icon for overdue?

From what I can remember, there are multiple "service" messages that can trigger icons in the instrument display on the E61:

Oil service
Inspection service
MOT reminder

The icons for these are quite similar, but further detail is given on the central display via i-drive.

Possibly front and rear brake pads too - I never saw that one on mine

Clock’s advice looks good.

A lad at work was bemoaning an early icon in his 2012 3 series, and it wasn’t what he thought. I think his was brake fluid due, or hadn’t been reset. You’ve also got the MOT reminder. The ‘inspection’ reminder etc

Easy enough to reset but please dont unless you intend to change it fairly soon after many dont

I don't know when it was last changed so it'll be getting done regardless. Cheers
