Replacing variable dampers
Discussion
Yes, I want to replace the dampers on my car. I need new ones because they're getting a bit old and worn (100k+ miles)
I'm struggling to find part numbers for the ones on my car - 2012 X3 35d
The other thing I'm considering is aftermarket parts, but can't find those either. The Bilstein ones don't fit an X3.

You are limited to BMW genuine parts for this model unfortunately. The front part numbers are 37116797027(left) and 37116797028 (right). The rear part number is 37126799911 (same part for left & right). Make sure you're sitting down with a stiff drink before you ask your dealer for pricing, but my guess is £500/corner plus fitting.I'm struggling to find part numbers for the ones on my car - 2012 X3 35d

In my experience, there are many tired suspension components to replace before getting to the shock absorbers, so my recommendation (for what it's worth) would be to start with the bushes. The EDC shocks are generally very good quality, so unless they've leaked, I would question the need to replace them all in one hit. But if you've made up your mind, the part numbers are there.
Lastly, it is possible to fit non-EDC shock absorbers, in which case you code out the EDC entry from the car's coding (S223A is deleted from the VO). It has been done.
