I'm considering a set of BBS alloys for my 530i touring

They're 8.5" wide, so a straight set; but I'd like to stick with staggered tyre sizes ideally.

I'd look to run the factory sizes of 235/40 or 245/40 and 265/35 front and rear; would these fit fine on an 8.5" wide alloy (the tyre sizes mentioned are for 8" and 9" OEM alloys FYI). I prefer a squarer sidewall then slanted, better rim protection etc

Cheers

I’d say if you’re going for 235 on the front, you’ll not be square- faced. This is a 245/40 on a 9” at the front of SL1. (The back wears 275 & they’re square). I would imagine the 2.5mm difference between 245/9j and 235/8.5j is not visibly different to this.

As you can see, rim protection is... limited. (Aargh). But they’ll get refurbed soon when the winter wheels go on.

Yeah; that's why I'm thinking 245/40s up front and 265/35s on the rear.

If I ran 9" alloys, I'd probably run a 275 tyres as the 265 tyre sidewall is slanted

As you know (on e65 conversations, etc), I’ve always run +10mm size on my BMW, so instead of 225/255 I had 235/265 on the e92 & the e89. The 7 runs 255/285 instead of 245/275. The M6 is on the standard 255/285 though, as a 295 won’t fit at the rear (apparently).

Where i’m going with this is that the f/r stagger is typically 30mm, so if you’re going 245f, will 275r fit - to maintain the ratio, so to speak?

I’m also sure that 99% of the time it won’t matter!

275 on a 8.5" wide wheel will be too big; factory would be 255, so 265 would be spot on. 235 would be factory for 8.5" fronts too, so 245 should be bang on too smile

I did regret not going 255/285 on my 730D, the factory sized tyres looked stretched on the 20" Style 149s rolleyes I curbed the rear OS wheel twice laugh
