Just an FYI folks, BMW are offering servicing with 25% off (see terms for services that have the offer applied to them) if booked online in the next 3 days. I wasn't going to bother with a running-in oil service for my 340i, but I think the price is now low enough for me to go for it.

Yep. They take the p###. All car manufacturers do in the first 3 years while it’s in warranty. Problem is I do lots of miles so need the warranty and if you take your car to an Indy for services in the first 2 years when you try to trade it all the garages knock £1k off cos it’s not been maintained by dealerships. You can’t win if you need to run new stuff. Only saving is to buy ex demo and save yourself money on buying new . Current f31 was half price compared to list price at 6 months old with no miles !

I can't say I've found many dealers to be too bothered if a car has main dealer servicing or private garage. Certainly not trying to knock £1k off.

With BMW services stored on the idrive I doubt many people bother to check the codes of who serviced it when.

You'd need to do a fair amount of miles to need two services is two years. Average users will often get to the two year interval before mileage.

Thanks for the heads up, prices look pretty good, i.e. about the same as if I bought the parts and got an indy to do the work.

The microfilter is still a comedy price though... £195 for an oil service for my M5, £395 for oil + microfilter laugh

Christ - The big service with plugs filters and oil is sub £400 on my M140.

Just had it done at a specialist for roughly the same price as dealers wanted over £700.

That does seem a bit extreme - I just bought a Bosch micro-filter for my E90 3 Series from ECP on their early "Black Friday" promotion for £14.02 inc. VAT!
