2009 320i SE Vibrating Gearstick

Asking for a friend.

Mate at work took the car for a test drive and could feel a vibration in the gearstick both while driving and at idle.

Is this normal or something for concern?

Could be all manner of things. It does have the N43 engine of doom. A Google search will reveal an assortment of common faults on one of BMWs nastiest engines.

I thought the engine of doom was the N47 diesel and the petrol engines weren't so bad.

Afraid the petrols are as bad. N45, N43, N46. They are also missing two cylinders.
