I really really like these but I dont understand why I like it so much.


I just wish I had a huge warehouse where I could buy future classics like this and start a collection...oh and I wish I had all the money to do this too!

It's a timeless design, I'd say it was the first "modern" BMW. In terms of design, the E46, E92 and F32 4 Series are evolutions of the same basic style.

One of BMW's best designs ever I'd say, and pleasingly compact compared to what followed. Just a pity they went so rusty.

Compared to the E30, it was quite a large step forwards in design.

I'm half wondering about looking I to the costs and any issues with converting an auto to a manual?

There are a lot of cheap autos about but the factory manuals in good nick are double the price

Auto to manual conversion is straightforward, I’m sure you’ll find a guide online. I did an E46 330d manual conversion, even re registered it with DVLA as a manual.

say what? I didnt realise you could rergister it with the DVLA as a manual?

I did, you need to provide evidence that it’s been converted. I sent a copy of my BMW Technician certificate and a photo of the car interior showing the manual gear lever. If the conversion is done well you’ll have no problems or warning lights.
