All dashboard and other electrics working as norm with key in pos 1, no crank or fuel pump priming when key moved to pos2. Not even a click from starter. Oil light also working on dash and car has no ews due to build date.
Have swapped the crank pulse sensor for known working one no, no change. Checked all fuses
and have tried another fully charged battery, still no change.
Before I remove the DME to check it's inners would/should the engine still crank with a dead DME?
TIA.

Tricky. Does the central locking work OK? 1994 will have EWS1 (not the 1995 on chipped key EWSII) that relies on a signal from the central locking part of the body control (GM) module to activate the pump and starter.

Could be a faulty transmission lever inhibitor switch.

Thanks for the reply, yes CL locking works fine.
Do you have anymore info on the inhibitor switch as I have had to move the auto selector through
the gears on occasion before the car fired up?

With regards to the DME though, should not the engine still crank?

It's on my list for tomorrow.
Would still like to get an answer to the non cranking question though.

It’s too long since I worked on one!

Inhibitor switch not fitted to this years make, according to Realoem.
However there may be a impulse generator sensor that carries out a similar function.
Info very sparse even on t'net.

Can anybody point me to the location of the starter interlock relay , it's supposedly inside the car
somewhere?

61358364175 Part No on Realoem if it helps.

On a 1994 car it should be up to the left of the steering column. So steering column under tray down and you're looking for a relay like this:

I've no idea why one is blau and the other weiss but Schaltgetriebe means manual gearbox and these both are.

Has this car got a BMW alarm? Most of them did as a dealer fit. If you haven't got a fob and haven't thus used it, it's worth removing it. I've had it before.

Thanks for the location advice Touring.
Those relays in your post are being advertised on eBay,but with the advice they are not for autos.

This is the part I'm after according to Realoem, but strangely enough it lists the same part No
for both auto and manual, wobble
