who doesn't like to chat about injectors?
Discussion
I've been roaming around ebay recently looking for some injectors, seeing what's about and what the options are and I noted a number of things which I wondered if anyone had any first hand experience of:
1. There are lots of "index 11" injectors available from China priced at around £50 each - anyone taken a punt with these? Or will they give my car the coronavirus.
2. 2nd hand index 11 injectors: They seem to change hands at fairly high prices, even 2nd hand. Anyone bought any used injectors and had a good experience?
3. Index 12! I didn't know these existed - apparently they are the injector we have all been waiting for, the best of the best. And, the prices of these seem to be lower. I saw a set of 6 brand new for £899 which doesn't seem too bad compared to brand new index 11 injectors. Will these work in the N53 engine?
4. Remanufactured Injectors...? Seem to be some kicking around priced at £120 each
thanks in advance.

Interesting stuff. I wouldn’t bother with 1 or 2.
Here’s some good reading:

Sounds like this guy had some success with used injectors:

Wonder how he is getting on with them?

Piezo injectors for the n53/4 can't be refurbed so anyone who claims refurb is fibbing. The index 12 injectors are n54. Apparently they do physically fit the n53 but won't work, and I've been warned not to try it. Pity as they can be very much cheaper.
Chinese copies well I don't know about those but seems unlikely they'd work. That said the proper ones are Italian so perhaps if the originals had been made in China they might have been better from the start.
Stick to original 11's used or new.
Btw index 11 still fail, though it's very much rarer.
And PS I LOVE to chat about injectors
Not sure if they are made by Siemens tbh, seems to ring a bell though.
I stand corrected on the refurb, or at least, can be cleaned: https://bimmerprofs.com/cleaning-piezo-injectors/
I'd try my chances with used genuine personally if replacing g entire bank or new from cotswold if one or two index 11 needed.
