BMW EGR Recall Part 2?
Discussion
I went in to BMW yesterday to book my MOT they said that there was a recall on my vehicle.
Last year I had the EGR Cooler checked. All was good and I was told not to worry.
Yesterday, I was told that there was another recall and the plan was to replace the part. They did say some of the replacement parts had been faulty so they were not taking chances.
I called customer service and was informed the recall letters for those affected will be sent on 17/02/20.
This might help someone who was baffled as I was. I kept saying but it was checked there was no fault and they told me it needed to be checked again and replaced. Customer service said it will be around 11,000 cars this time.

You can check via vin here; https://www.bmw.co.uk/en/footer/quick-links/bmw-ve...
Mine is booked in for 25th Feb, despite having a brand new replacement last year. I believe the understanding is that it is a superseded part to the original replacements, which were the same part number.
Mine is 2014 F31 330d.

Note that the BMW system doesn't like private plates, so either use the VIN or the original registration.Just had a call from my dealer about this.
EGR was checked twice last year and was fine.
As others have said everyone is now getting new egr’s fitted, irrespective of if they had it changed.
Dealer was adamant that it had to be done straight away, however as I need a courtesy car. Magically it was ok to wait until end of March.
Question is do I wait, as we saw last time with the shortage of parts I really don’t want to be left without my car for weeks?

Mine had the cooler done a week last friday (after being declared fine last year). Some of these have gone on to fail.
Problem is mine was back the Saturday coolant too high (by over an inch).
Friday just gone it was on the back of a recovery lorry...coolant on the undertray, at the moment they are checking it for leaks....

335xd Mine was changed two years ago after an EGR failure.at BMWs expense
Checked last year and all was fine
Now had a recall to replace and booked in on the 27th Feb
I spoke to the customer service who basically said that previous parts had show a weakness. All were replaced with new for old under the previous recall, but the replacement was identical and therefore the known weakness was still there.
Now they had stocks of parts which were revised/improved and would last the life of the car. So that now this would be a lasting change to sort the problem.
