Hi, today I drove 150 miles to pick up my wife’s new car, a 2011 X1 23d Auto. It has the satnav with the I drive, and I was told that it had phone prep. When I look in the menu I cannot see telephone, and when I go to settings I cannot find Bluetooth. All the telephone buttons are in place though. I find it hard to believe that anyone would order the car to the spec with a full electric leather seats, automatic and I drive and not have a Bluetooth phone option. I was wondering whether it could be a software glitch, or was it an optional extra.
Can anyone verify either of the two above, or tell me either way I can restore the telephone Bluetooth. If it was the factory extra is it possible to have it retrofitted and if not can anybody recommend a good option.
Thanks 🙂

Put the VIN into a vin decoder , google M decoder for example and it will show you build sheet as to what options.
Although I thought presence of the little fin on the roof meant Bluetooth??
If not , you can get a short term solution on Amazon for under a tenner to plug into USB or cig lighter socket. Pairs with phone and acts as speaker.
Longer term , there must be better options. Ask any good audio electrician. Or BMW.
Get some money off car dealer , who sold you it badly described ?

Fin is a good sign wink
Is Bluetooth switched off in car , I presume you’ve checked settings / connectivity ?

I phoned a BMW dealer this morning and found that it was not fitted to my car and was an extra at the time, which I find very hard to swallow. Anyway, I’m now going to have to find some way of integrating it into the existing I drive unit.
Can anyone recommend a small integrated unit, unlike the parrot which has an external screen, That I can use through the original controls, ie steering wheel?
