Hi everyone.

My partners BMW 1 series 116d is due for a service shortly and we have it booked into the dealership (going to an independent garage next year due to cost..)

Its 4 years old and has done 21k miles. The on board computer states that it needs an oil change and microfilter/pollen filter done. No issues with pads or anything else.

The guy at the service centre initially booked it in for an oil change/ microfilter service but when I rang up he also quoted that it should have an air filter and fuel filter change. Is this correct?

I told him nowhere on the cars computer does it have any indicators for fuel or air filters and he seemed puzzled. I'll confess neither me nor my partner know much about cars but I hate being given the run around by anyone just because my knowledge may not be up to scratch.

Anyone else had the same issue where the obc only shows indicators for oil, microfilter, brake fluid, pads and nowt else?

Thanks in advance

Neither my last E90 or this F30, has onboard clues as to when the filters were due.

Hopefully someone else will confirm it, but I think they’re due with every Second ‘oil service’

Something like that.

Hopefully you can find out when they were last changed, and make your own decision.

The service person is right. Every 2nd service you should also have the air and fuel filters changes so with your low mileage that's when the car is 4 years old.
