E9x cic DAB what’s missing?
Discussion
- edited* I’ve got a 2006 E92 that came from new with profesional ccc and dab from new. A previous owner had it upgraded to cic which works very well. It’s got the dab option when I go to the media section but nothing happens *it comes up saying “all assembles?”* when I click on it. I don’t like having things on my car that don’t work especially if it’s a simple fix.
It does have Bluetooth for hands free and music streaming which all works as well as I can talk to the system when I press the button on the steering wheel so I think that means I’ve got a combox?

Unfortunately the upgraded CIC head unit does not use external modules connected by fibre optic MOST loop, like the earlier CCC technology. It means that the old DAB module is redundant and your only way to get oem DAB is to fit a version of the CIC head unit that has inbuilt DAB.
If your head unit is already the right one then you’ll just need to extend the DAB aerial from the boot to the back of the head unit, however if DAB is not an option in the menu then you probably don’t have it.
Btw. Even with the old CCC system, the external DAB modules are only DAB compatible and not the later DAB+ so may not be able to receive your favourite stations anyway.

Not assembles but ensembles - these are the groups of DAB channels that are multiplexed together on the same transmission frequency.
It’s promising that your menu shows DAB, although it might be possible that the car is just incorrectly coded from the original DAB/CCC setup. I suggest searching online for a user manual for the CIC to check the procedure for searching for available ensembles (or prod buttons until it does something
). Ultimately you may have to get to the back of the head unit to see if it has the DAB aerial socket and if a cable is connected to it.
