Looking for help or if anyone has had similar issues?
Just had remap on 2015 335dx and has developed two intermittent faults-

-259800 Fuel pressure and temp sensor signal. short to ground.
-2ADB00 Engine overheating protection: torque reduction during overspeed due to oil exhaust

They are both intermittent. Basically for a split millisecond under heavy foot the car will lose all power almost like a limiter has hit???

Asked my map guy and he said both faults were on car already and may be fuel filter but it didnt do this before?
It drives normally for 90% of the time and has happened 3-4 times in 3 weeks but obviously not using car that much due to lockdown...

Any help would be appreciated!

I’d recommend getting the standard map put back on. Fix the faults then find a new mapper who won’t map a car knowing it has faults.

Any ideas what the faults could be though?

Are the DTC’s and the loss of power definitely connected ?

For example you can clear codes, run the car fine for a bit, read the codes, and everything’s clear ?

The codes only appear after that temporary loss of power ?

Cant be sure on when the codes arrived other than taking the word of the map guy.
All I know is that it started developing faults after mapped. Only bought in Jan and put 8k miles on it without any issues and then had map and faults arrived?

Have you contacted the mapper?

Yeah. He said he'll take the map off but says it's an original issue and I should try fixing that really...?

Problem is I need to pinpoint what the actual issue is
..
I like the map and it's got great gains but just trying to figure out what the potential issue is that needs fixing before I spend a st load on various different solutions that aren't necessary.

Reading a few bits I think it may be Fuel Pump or filter for first DTC but dont know what the 2nd one could be?

1st one appears to be fuel rail pressure & temperature sensor. A quick look up, suggests that’s a 4 pin single sensor.

2nd DTC could be a result of the 1st.

As he opened up the Engine ECU ? Or has his map altered the fuel pressure ?

Mapper’s response stinks though, IMO.

Customer brings the car in looking for more power. Mapper notices the car has a fault, but continues with map.

Then why not tell the customer to get the fault fixed first ? It might have given him the extra power he was originally looking for smile

Worth considering, that the 1st DTC could be a failsafe. Where the ECU detects a problem and decides to cut fuel/fuel pressure.

Might be worth a read of this....

Not sure on whether he opener the ECU or fuel pressure. Will check in. Thanks on 1st point!

+1 yes

It's like carrying out a coolant service on a car that has a hole in the radiator - You fix the radiator first!

I’d say change the fuel filter first then clear the codes and see what happens. If it’s anything like my car it’ll need doing anyway. It’s quite often overlooked. Mine was ancient and when I did it the fuel that came out was black! Relatively cheap and easy job to do yourself if you’re so inclined.

This is the sort of situation that puts you off remapping and gives it a bad name
