Bagged myself a new 5 series just before things got a bit Covidy and everything ground to a halt. After several weeks of badgering I got a message from my dealer, or rather the single non furloughed staff member looking after the whole operation, saying it had been built and was at the port waiting to be shipped.

Which is fine. For as long as I’m locked down we don’t need a second car.

I’ve had no more communication but news outlets suggest the German economy may be grinding into life again so I’m wondering if anyone else has a BMW parked up waiting to go on a boat and whether you have been given any more info then me.

Obviously when it gets to Immingham it’s probably just going to sit there for weeks......... Which once again is fine

Cheers

On the bright side, at least these cars are someone else's problem for the moment.

Mine is stuck at Linate airport with the battery and tyres doubtless going flat...

Was supposed to have my bmw around the end of March. Last I heard was 'its in the UK and should be arriving at dealers'. That was over 7 weeks ago. Does that mean I will have a weak battery life cos of car being left isolated ?

I'd fear so.

A lot of new cars have a "delivery mode" where most of the electrical functions are disabled to save power, I'd be surprised if many will need anything more than starting and to run for a few minutes to top the battery back up.

...Thanks, that's reassuring to know.

Had the call on the 23rd March saying it's in the uk at Southampton
Dealer has been in contact every couple of weeks not saying a lot really. Getting very frustrated
