Aside from the facelifted 5 series, and the accompanying 550i that made the front page today, BMW have announced a lot of other news...

The long awaited (and often derided looks-wise) 4 series coupe will be unveiled on Tuesday next, 2nd June at 17:00 here: www.live.bmwgroup.com

The 6 series GT was also facelifted alongside the 5 series. So many people don't seem to know this car exists, but it replaced the 5 series GT in 2017.

The X2 xDrive25e was launched (so a hybrid X2), and the X2 very mildly facelifted.

Mild hybrid technology introduced on 3, 5, 6 and 7 series, as well as the X3, X4, X5, X6 and the much loved X7.

New 6 cylinder diesels in the 7 series.

New 218d and 220d xDrive Gran Coupe (contain yourselves).

A few more bits of news too, but read it all for yourselves here: https://www.press.bmwgroup.com/global/article/deta...

The facelift 6 series GT isn’t coming to the UK so the model will be discontinued here. Not surprising as all the ones I have seen (Not many) are ex BMW UK cars

The 4 series coupe has been derided looks wise? Wow, I'm surprised... I think it's one of the most aesthetically pleasing cars they make. Far nicer than the awful 1 and 2 series.

You do know it's not been revealed yet? Comments about the renders / spy shots have not, however, been positive.

Ah, my bad, I thought the OP was referring to the existing 4 series. Was not aware of the back story.

This is the problem, pretty much everything is absolutely gopping.

Keep seeing the new 1 series and it's a right mess.

Loving the new styling direction BMW are taking, it's just like the Bangle era all over again I seem to remember the pitchforks came out then but generally from people that don't buy the cars new hence it made sense to ignore them as BMW did and will again, I hated the E65 7 series looks and still do but was never going to buy one, they sold more of those than any previous 7 series...

Got to freshen things up and keep the customers that do buy them interested.

I think the Bangle era cars were good looking (aside rom the 7) and have aged really well. These new cars less so especially the silly grilles which seem to be a bad joke now.

The new 4 Series has grown on me but I do hope the M4 - when it arrives - won't have the hideous bonnet profile that this render suggests...

You clearly weren't around on the forums back then as everyone was up in arms about them they got a right pasting however they sold well so that's not an issue for BMW, the same bad joke statements were made back in the day, as you're doing now.

The cars ageing well, again is great for people who buy secondhand so they can pick the car they slagged off when it was released... (it's the PH way)

I see you have a 1 series a car that was lambasted when released on these pages for being ugly as an example. (I've always quite liked them nice drive despite the looks although the coupe was always a motorised hat IMHO)

I have to admit that contour looks odd has to be the render and perhaps the ratio of the picture.

The bonnet shape is off and distorted on that render. But I'd say they have the side profile more-or-less spot on, as well as the front end.
These are the prototype pictures which probably give a more accurate representation...
