sump plug hole thread stripped......i think!
Discussion
I was finishing up after doing a front suspension and steering refresh the other day, just before i commenced battle with the undertray refit
i noticed the sump plug had a small drip of oil on it but non round the area on the sump so assumed it may just be the plug needed nipping up. As i did this it did indeed feel loose but something in my mind told me it didnt feel right either so i stopped and left it. I've done 2 oil changes on the car since i've had it. The first time i dropped the oil out of the sump but last time i got a vacuum pump and sucked it out through the dipstick tube with great success so am happy to do this method from now on.
So, what in your opinion is my best option? I'm worried it's going to drop out now.
Araldite?
PTFE?
Over sized plug. The standard plug is M12x1.5. Does a M13x2 for example exists?
Or retap it to M14. I don't fancy this method because of the non metallic swarf in the sump potentially.
Just thinking about it, i don't recall it feeling wrong when i did the sump plug oil change last time, so maybe i had just stopped at the critical moment......who knows

I thought I'd stripped the threads on the sump the last time I serviced my car, the plug wound all the way in but wouldn't tighten, it was just spinning in the sump, it wasn't leaking but I stuck a load of silicone sealant over it just in case and ordered a new sump. However, when I came to swap the sump I discovered I'd only stripped the threads on the plug even though it seemed ok when I put it back in, I'd bet yours is the same.
