F11 535d - brake discs
Discussion
Good morning,
My car has developed a little bit of a vibration, through the steering column, under light braking. It appears less pronounced under heavy breaking but I think it’s still there.
I know that the offside front alloy, a 613M 18 inch, has a slight buckle that causes a very slight shake at motorway speeds.
I am making an assumption that the vibration under braking Is possibly from a warped front disk.
I’ve looked online and it seems that original spec discs are around £500. There are other ones that are about £120 for a pair.
That is obviously quite some difference and I know that you pay your money and take your chances!
Can anybody offer any advice, recommend a set of discs Or a place to get well priced parts?
Thank you

On the 5 series forum someone had repeated "warped discs" and apparently it came down to the hub mating face having been painted during a refurb. Personally i think thats questionable - firstly those rotors will not easily warp, and secondly, the common denominator across all those brake disc replacements after car faults were ruled out was the driver himself. If you brake hard to a stop and keep the brakes held on in one place it builds up pad material which can cause a vibration.
Worth doing some long hard braking sessions but not come to a complete stop to see if it gets better.
A buckled wheel can also exacerbate vibration during braking.
