I'm sure there will be posts on here someone can point me to but I'm looking at doing a few bits to my Z4C in order to enjoy it a bit more and put off selling it for a little while. Any advice maaaaassssively appreciated as there doesnt seem to be much of a community around these like there is for my 182.

Springs....looking at Eibach
Spacers....looking at 30mm all around and will keep the standard 108 wheels i have
Very light tint on rear windows
Possible carbon/black roof wrap
Trying to find a decent front splitter
Possibly get rear lip spoiler and keep black (car is montego blue)
Exhausts...I cant be arsed with a full system and I want something that you can drive quietly but that is a bit more dramatic when you open it up
Possibly get a new intake purely for sound purposes but they all seem to be expensive ?!

Also toying with remap, I know the gains look small (10-20hp) but I've realised that its more about delivery than numbers on a piece of paper and I've read about an increase in top end push like which i do miss compared to the S54.

Any thoughts on any of this would be great

Thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanks

Yeah I've looked on the other forums too..
All the relevant posts are pretty old

I think firstly I'm debating whether I go for spacers or new wheels or both and which

eibach springs are the standard every one uses and I have on my coupe, Lowers the car but ride quality remains the same although your taking a low car even lower so watch the big speed bumps, People often go for bilstein b4 shocks and eibach springs. The bilsteins are a slightly uprated standard damper.

Front splitters are rare, I made my own from some of that garage door stuff:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bumper-Konesky-Protector-...

stuck it on 2 years ago and its still on there. It sounds silly but it really beefs up the front end a bit. I always said when it eventually came off I would replace it with this:
https://www.maxtondesign.co.uk/front-splitter-bmw-...

other than the above mentioned, Im not away of any other splitters.

Wrapped roofs look naff but you may feel otherwise. Personally never liked it, the only kind of good looking one I seen was on a white coupe. Never liked rear spoilers either. the coupe has such a nice sloped hunchy rear. Rear spoilers always just look like a nasty ebay stick on. The only thing I would consider would be a proper moulder tail like the m3 CSL.

spacers you will find you need different size front and rear. The z4 rubs the inner arch liners if too high an offset where as there is more space in the rear. I think 10mm front and 20mm rear is pretty common. check the forum and find what other people are running. 30mm wont go on the front though especially if lowered.

If you want more a bit more noise, there is the common sound "mod" which entails ripping out a piece of foam that runs into the bulkhead. This splices off the air intake into the cabin. If you remove a bit of foam you get more intake sound and it only really picks up when going up the revs while remaining fairly quiet in normal driving. this obviously doesnt make a difference to the actual car noise. Intakes arent really common, Their is the expensive gruppe M stuff but I would spend my £500 elsewhere.

One of the best modifications you can get is the ZHP weighted gear knob. Its not glamorous in anyway but makes driving feel so much better vs the standard naff plastic thingy. There hard to get these days but were around £60.

I had two 3.0Si Sport Coupes for over 5 years but kept both on the standard M-Sport suspension.

From what I have read many owners seemed to rate the Bilstein B12 kit highly which includes Eibach springs.

I definitely wouldn't want to try 30mm spacers on a Sport - even less on a lowered one because you will get rubbing.

I put a set of E89 wheels on my 2nd Coupe in place of 108s and because the offsets are totally different they were like having an 18mm spacer on the front and 10mm on the rear - I'll put a couple of photos so you can see how that looked.

Thankfully my 2nd one came with a custom cat-back system already fitted so it sounded great, but removing one or both foams from the sound generator (there is one at each end) will give you some intake noise for no cost so has to be a good starting point.

And the ZHP gear-knob (plus fresh gearbox oil) make a huge difference.

I only sold my 2nd one because I bought a Z4M Coupe in December and based on my experience of that I'd avoid H & R coil-overs, unless you plan to do more miles on track than on the road!

I'm obviously biased but I think they are great cars so it's worth trying a few mods to get yours how you want it.

Thanks all,

I removed the foam piences some time ago, makes a huge difference which is great but still wish it had a bit more grunt, tunnels dont particularly fill me with excitement in the way they do in the Z4M or in my clio.

I wouldnt want to go any further than a backbox but any opinions on something that is loud when you want it to be and quiet when you want it to be?

I have seen Eissenmann exhausts but they look expensive and my garage has told me they are loud
Scorpion look decent?

In terms of lowering the car and spacers I am now weighing up pros and cons of lowering + spacers and retaining the 18 inch 108s OR just getting 19 inch CSL reps and then I suspect they wont need spacing, and may not need lowering.

Roof wrap, I think I will leave this for now

Will get the rear windows lightly tinted

Will buy some of that splitter tape stuff if only out of curiosity, question is Black vs Carbon Fibre effect?

What I reaaaaaaaaaaaaallly want is the Aero sidesill covers that were an option that the car really should have come with from factory.

For some reason our Z4M only has one of these.

I managed to track down from BMW part numbers but looks like production was ended and they were pricey in any case - all the aftermarket side skirts look terrible. The aero kit, especially with CSLs, really makes a huge difference

Bilstein B12 and non RFT (18" Z4 MC) transformed the ride on mine. The drop was about 2-3 cm (mine was SE suspension) which was perfect.

You can get a modded back box, very effective and no drone

This is what you want ... it’s epic

https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=99138

I have 18” CSL reps .. these with standard tyres, personally think they work far better than the 19”s

https://www.bmautosport.co.uk/showroom/product_inf...

The other mod is the CDV delete which absolutely transforms the gearchange and takes about 10 minutes

ZHP original gearknobs can be ordered direct from BMW dealers and again transform the feel

Have you lowered your car too, being on 18s? Do you have pics?

Never come across the clutch delay valve mod, what is the actual effect?

No, mine isn’t lowered it’s standard height

The CDV delete transforms the gear change making it much nicer and quicker, it removes the tendency to jerk and hop from starting off, and gives you much more control over the clutch

It’s the easiest way to improve the way the car drives

+! thumbup

I've had the CDV removed on 3 of my recent BMWs and they drive much better without it.

A ZHP gear-knob is also a big improvement on a Z4!

Ordered a ZHP last night (lets hope its a real one)

Will have a go at deleting the CDV, very intrigued by this (or will get the garage to do it).

On reflection, putting driving experience first I think next will be a backbox.

Looking at the Eissenmann Race Back box now - although interested in the back box mod instead, just no idea where I would go to get this done?

So the ZHP arrived today and was pleasantly easy to install - I was expecting to break something.

It is nice, it looks good and has a nice weight to it - I wouldn't call it especially transformative but glad I bought it.

I have a cheap fake splitter tape thing I now need to install and I think window tints (very light) will actually be the next mod as its cheap and easy and quick

still wondering whether to buy new rims or spend the money on catcams for the 182!?!?

It's a definite improvement as it's a bit shorter, a fair bit heavier and also looks better IMHO.
