E46 Xenons - AL / ZKW / Bosch

Sorry if this has been asked before, can't find anything definitive here or on E46 fanatics.

I have an '03 (pre-LCI) 330Ci with a flickering Xenon. Swapped bulbs problem remains on the n/s. Wish to try ballast next.

Two part numbers listed on bmwfans.info parts catalouge - one AL and one ZKW which I understand relates to the manufacturer.

My lamp says Bosch on the lens - anyone able to confirm the AL part is the correct one?

Check on RealOEM.com too

Put the last 7 digits of your VIN into the box at the top of the page and it'll bring up your exact car; go through the diagrams to find the headlights and their components etc

Sounds like a ballast issue to me; swap it to the other side, if the issue follows, there's your answer

There must be a way to tell on the lamp? Maybe I have to remove it

The crossover of fitted dates would imply they're interchangeable, Shirley?

If you remove the existing one you should be able to read off the part number, pretty much everything BMW has one written which is handy.

Found this which suggests AL

Trying to avoid too much disassembly / reassembly so will take a punt on a fleabay ballast for £25 and see if this fixes the issue
