Hi,

Hope this fits in here, just finally got my brand new 420i Gran Coupe lease car delivered after being delayed from March. Absolutely delighted with it already, looks great with the M Sport trim and from the short drive I've had it feels amazing. I just had a couple of questions I can't find the answers too, hoping someone here might know.

Coming from an Audi A4 I'm a little disappointed with the interior, I had read up on it so was kind of expecting it to be a little outdated having not been refreshed but there seems to be some obvious omissions -

- is there no digital speedometer? I can tweak the settings to show range and other things on the little screen but can't see any option for this.
- there seems to be a blank space under the speedo dial but nothing shows up here, is this just empty space or should this be showing information as well?
- my mobile connection seems spotty, I was able to access the spotify app on the in car screen once my phone connected the first time through the connected app but it's not showed up again since, common issue or is there something I'm missing here?

And just generally any tips/tricks or advice from any 4 series owners? Best driving mode? I've been playing with Sport which seems good enough, not really tried out Sport+ yet.

Appreciate any help!

Cheers

The blank space in the instruments is the bord computer, for which you have a switch at the end of the indicator stalk. Press it to scroll through the various parameters. You may not have a digital speedometer there, but it can be coded in by someone with Carly for example.

Yeap, digital speedo can be coded using Bimmercode.

Cheers I'll look into that! There be any issues coding it on a lease when returning it?

- I think you can set what's shown via the button on the end of the indicator stalk via iDrive and a digital speedo is one of those.
- the blank space under the speedo dial is where the Eco Pro mode guage shows itself, also a number of error messages. Try starting it without your foot on the brake for example.
- I dont know about the Spotify app, I've got the previous version which can be problematic.

I find the Comfort mode the best typically. I find eco pro is too sluggish and I'm not brave enough for sport+ on the road, but mine's an Alpina D4 and I have an aversion to hedges and ditches. Sport is tasty though.

The connected phone app is good for sending a Sat Nav direction too, and for turning the fans on before you get in the car.

If you're used to a spare wheel have a rehearsal with the "mobility system" before you need it.

The radio station preset keys can be set to preset for anything, like Sat Nav for favourite addresses, what to display on the centre sceen etc. Basically if it's an action in a menu you can link it to a preset key. See here for a how to https://bimmertips.com/programming-bmw-idrive-memo...

No, it's non-invasive & completely reversible in that sense.

Brilliant! This is what I was after, cheers. Especially the tip about presetting functions with the radio buttons, would never have found that! I'll need to look into the mobility system, did find it strange there was no spare or quick puncture kit included.
