Hi guys,

So I drive a BMW 320D and today I drove home and got out my car and went in to do some work for a few hours. I then left my house, got in my car and a new warning light appears. (Never had one before) Saying there is a pedestrian warning system fault. Picture below.

Very strange, the car was literally serviced last week with no issues. Is this a simple fix? I've messaged my garage and will hear from them tomorrow.

I may sound like a bit of a newbie but I'm hoping this isn't anything serious or expensive, I have no idea why this light is even showing to be honest.

Thank you in advance

The wiring could be borked. There are two piros under the bonnet that fire off and raise the bonnet if it detects you've hit a pedestrian. Take it back to the dealer.

Thanks for your response man, some people online are saying its due to the car being in direct hot sunlight for a few hours. It's very hot in the UK today at 32 degrees where I am, this might be the cause. Only time will tell though wink

I did not know that, where are the sensors for that ?

Can someone just kick these sensors ( if located somewhere up front / bumper area ) and have the bonnet blow up a bit ?

When I first bought a Jag XF I was warned just hitting a speedbump or pothole too hard could fire the bonnet-bags..

The sensor is a strip behind the bumpe and a separate acceleration sensor.

If you have an obd adapter, you could read the codes and take it from there.
