Buying advice - E46 330 ci vert
Discussion
Hi!
So, I’ve been offered a well taken care of 330 at 55000km, 2001. All original, two owners since new. The current owner has had it for 12 years but only driven a total of some 10000km, it hasn’t moved much in other words. What should I be careful of when buying an e46 that has been stationary for such a long time?
Thanks in advance-
Cressell

Hey,
Sounds like a great opportunity, however tread carefully. At that mileage you could be walking into a wall of bills / routine maintenance due at the 60-90k mileage range.
Loads of threads which will cover all your questions / concerns. See below which was first one on a search result.

Hi
That is a similar annual mileage to what I do in mine. I take care to service it each year, treat all the rubbers and make sure all the electric components get used. I also don't store it straight after a wash to prevent corrosion.
If it is looked after in this manner and stored in the dry it should be OK. Things to look out for are corrosion (underside components as well as wings), leaking struts, perished bushes, cooling system deterioration. As well as the mechanicals, make sure the roof and windows all work.
They are quite simple cars to work on and parts aren't expensive so if it is a good car at a good price it should be OK but low mileage doesn't make it a great buy. Condition is king.
Good luck and do share pictures if you go ahead.
ETA - check the inner tyre walls - they perish if left standing.
