Evening

Having paid £80ish for a healthcheck at the time my car was serviced, a couple of things have bugged me. Worth a moan to the dealer, or do you think I’m mildly irritated about nothing?

Within 100 miles the adblue needed topping up

It seems that one of my tyres was a runflat and the other three weren’t (mess up by a wheel refurb company it seems). Should the dealership have warned me about this?

Thanks in advance

Ad blu no (would they warn you fuel was getting low?)

Tyres, that doesn't sound right though.

Depends what’s on the checklist I suppose. Hopefully they gave you a copy.

I wouldn’t have thought Adblue level would be on it.

And I’m guessing for tyres, it’s “Check condition and depth” ? If so, technically, they haven’t failed that biggrin

Not very observant on their part though. And gives you an idea of who you’re entrusting you’re car/safety with.

Avoid next time, would be my advice.

Nope, but as adblue hasn’t a gauge in the display so has to be checked by going through idrive, I would half expect them to check it in the same way they’d check oil etc.

Adblue isn’t on the list, just thought they should check as a matter of course.

Yep technically they’ve checked tyres I guess!

Er, why didn’t you just check it then?

Er, what I’m saying is it is clearly obvious when fuel is low as every time you get in the car there is a gauge in front of your eyes! As to check adblue you have to go through to the vehicle settings in idrive (in the same way as to check when services are due/brake wear etc), I thought they probably would have checked it. That’s all

How did you know that the Adblue needed topping up within 100 miles?

I don’t have Adblue but when mine went in for it’s first MOT a few weeks back they did a 2 page report free of charge with brake thickness and tyres depths including brand and size.

Maybe cynical but I always thought those health checks where there to get customers in and be like actually your car needs this done and instead of £80 quid you now have to pay £380. I have always avoided any health check or winter health check they always push

The main dealer in Tring didn’t charge for their video healthcheck last time mine was in for servicing

Decent. I’m pretty sure this dealer didn’t charge for one last year but did this year...

Also, I know there’s a pandemic on etc etc, but:
They weren’t offering courtesy cars
The weren’t offering collection/delivery
They weren’t letting you wait for the car (unless you waited outside)
The weren’t valeting them

All in the name of covid. Despite other Audi and vw dealers locally offering at least some of the above.

They were charging the same as usual though...

I think a lot of the dealers are doing that at the moment . Had mine in at Tring in June , and all the above was sent in an email prior to my appointment with the exception of waiting outside.

Test booking for a vehicle check service on my F10:

A full inspection of your vehicle is carried out
All fluids will be checked and topped up if required
All wheels and tyres will be checked for damage, wear and tyre pressure
All electrical systems and lights will be checked for damage and correct set up
Headlights will be adjusted if required
All seat belts will be checked for wear and safe operation
A road test will be carried out if required
Relevant service light reset
Recommended every 4 years or 36,000 miles depending on driving style and road conditions

Just £77.87 plus a mandatory £20.78 for reading any codes is a bargain £98.65.

Mine doesn't use AdBlue but if it did I think I'd be a bit miffed given the second line.

What a total rip off, it must take all of 15 minutes if you're lucky.
