In January my AC compressor went on my e93 335i, booked the car in and they replaced it under warranty.

Got the car back and there is now a squealing sound which rises and falls with the revs, it goes once the car has warmed up a bit.

I take it back and they tell me its the drivebelt and it needs replacing, I pay £200+ and get it replaced (not covered by warranty). Noise is still there.

Take it back again and they now say its the alternator, need a new one. Replaced under warranty, but the noise is still there.

Then the corona drama happens, so I've had the car with this issue since March.

I take it back 2 weeks ago and they now claim an AC pipe wasn't connected right and was rubbing against the engine, they put it back how it should be.

Guess what happens next....noise is still there.

I'm at a loss of what to do next. I've complained to head office multiple times and they just expedite a new booking where nothing gets sorted.

I could take it to my alternative dealer but they are worse than this one.

Probably just a belt tensioner in my experience. Not expensive - well, not at at a main dealer, but maybe just avoid them from now on.

As above, the tensioner should be replaced at the same time as the belt. Replacing as a matched pair is basic practice to mitigate this sort of noise.

They just sent me a video, saying the rattle on startup is normal and nothing to be concerned about.

Not a single mention of the squeal which is what it went back for.

Honestly baffling how dim they are.

Normally take thew belt off and start it, if the noise goes then its something driven by the belt, check everything thats driven by the belt and replace. If the noise carries on then look elsewhere.

Its not the bottom pulley breaking up is it ?
