As my 05, N52 engined 3 series has reached 83k, I would like to complete a full gearbox service. I am after the ZF OE kit for the 6HP19 transmission, but not sure where the best place is to get the genuine kit?

I have found an ebayer selling the kit below. Fluid is ZF but filter is made by BS Filtran. Is Filtran actually what ZF would use themselves?

You should be able to find a gen ZF kit. The last one I bought even had a BMW sticker on the sump.

Thanks. Can you remember where you brought it from?

All the genuine kits appear to have a filtran plastic sump. I guess I am trying to determine if filtran is the OE ZF version of sump.

Thanks Helix. Just brought from this company now for £240.

Looking forward to getting the service done soon.

Out of interest, has anyone used the xHP flashtool to sharpen the shifting of the gears?

I've used the xhp tool to flash my N52 530i recently.

I did it at home with a K-CAN cable off Amazon and my phone. Was easy and quick to do.

Don't expect huge miracles but it has a definite positive effect on the ZF box and. Stage 3 is hilariously quick but a bit too much for every day. I've put stage 1 back in for trundling to work and do a quick 2 min flash if I want 3 back in.

Overall worth the effort and cash especially with the tweaks you can do within the app to the software. It's idiot proof and you'd have to try very hard to break stuff.

Quick update...
Gearbox service and differential oil change was done last week. The transmission was fine before, but is now silky smooth. Any feint jolts on changing up and down gears is gone and it really feels nice.

The independent specialist said 6 litres of ZF fluid was used (not 7) and he did not change the mechatronic sleeve as he said they should not be disturbed if not leaking. He also said the old gearbox oil was quite clean indicating that the gearbox has had a good life so far.

Labour charge + diff oil change came to £60. This along with the £240 cost for the kit meant a total spend of £300 and it should now be good for another 80k miles.

Next on the list is the xHP stage 2 map...

Thanks for the update. Considering this on both my E91 (134k miles) and E63 (86k miles).

It is well worth doing. It made a difference on a gearbox I already thought was fine!
