Anyone have experience with z4 superchargers
Discussion
There are a couple of people on z4forum who have supercharged M54 engines in their Z4s, but from what I remember they had 3.0is.
I know there aren't too many Z4s to choose from in Oz/NZ but like Krikkit has suggested I think I'd put the money towards getting a Z4M then you'd get about 340bhp, not to mention hydraulic PAS and an LSD as well.
And if that doesn't feel enough you could always supercharge the S54!

Thanks but ill be all in with vehicle purchase (as stated excellent condition and manual) and the supercharger kit including fitting for less than one third of the price of the cheapest rough z4m. Apparently the 2.5 will have higher performance (more torque less overall hp) than a standard m. I know brakes will need upgrading too but I prefer sleepers, I want to keep it looking absolute stock standard .
The kit is based in Australia and even in the same state so no issues with covid, under 8k aud fitted

Head to the Z4 Forum
I used to be a member on there and its a good forum with a number of members who have had supercharger conversions (but as noted above by a previous poster, I think most where based on the 3.0 engine), although this link is for the 2.5 (the older 2.5 I think): https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=22400
If you were thinking of doing it will you also be upgrading the brakes to the 3.0 brakes or an LSD?

The company that sell the kit also.do a matching custom brake upgrade so I'll probably just get the whole lot done there. I'm in no rush to get it done and doing my research first.
I've upgraded and rebuilt virtually every car I've had , this one will be fairly mild in comparison to some others ive done

At $8k I'd be tempted to find someone to shoehorn an M62 (or even N62) into it. I don't know how readily available or cheap those engines are in your neck of the woods, but it'd make for something really special. I've had 4 Z4s in the correct order (2.0i, 2.5i, 3.0si and now Alpina Roadster S) and I've always missed the V8 woofle / poor-mans Z8 vibe.
How much would an S54 / S62 / S65 set you back? The S54 would likely be the cheapest and easiest.
A supercharger is also a great goal, as the M54 is quite reliable.

That kit is probably $7k USD by the time they've shipped it to Oz, then you've either got to find someone prepared to try and remap the MS43, or another management kit in as well, all for not that much gain it would seem.
120 bhp extra with no other mods 'not much gain' ? That kit is probably $7k USD by the time they've shipped it to Oz, then you've either got to find someone prepared to try and remap the MS43, or another management kit in as well, all for not that much gain it would seem.

Looking at the m62 (I had already considered it) apparently it makes 290 bhp if you manage to find the later updated version, that's still less than the 2.5 supercharged and considerably more money before you consider modding. At that amount of extra money I'd be looking for another 911 or tvr and selling this. How much would an S54 / S62 / S65 set you back? The S54 would likely be the cheapest and easiest.

I don't need super bhp , just want more than it has. Even supercharging it will.still have cost me half as much including purchase than a 3.0. They are that rare
That kit seems a bit pricey when you consider you can buy the supercharger from Rotrex for $2000USD / £1800GBP which includes oil tank, oil lines, pulley.
The most important part of the kit you are looking at is the bracket to attach the charger , the intercooler & piperwork could easily be sourced elsewhere.
Here is an example of a bracket from another supplier that will do the job for 350 Euro

i reckon you could put your own kit together and source a standalone ECU for less than the American solution

Plus the expense of sorting management, mapping and tuning etc, added insurance costs.
From a UK perspective it doesn't make much sense, but obviously that's different in Oz.
Ultimately it'll hinge on how good your mapper is imo.
ETA: The above post is also very true.

Suspension is good enough, i don't have the sport package so i have more ground clearance. This is essential where I live due to the rain. It handles well enough for what I want , its not getting tracked. Same for the brakes im running standard but with ceramic pads. I won't be going faster most of the time anyway just a bit more acceleration, I'm a well trained response driver so fairly confident of dealing with anything that comes my way. The z4 is a good package anyway and doesn't need much work to be honest if you really know how to drive it
