I've a 340i as my daily driver, family wagon.

Considering a MPPSK.

Am I right that the exhaust does not have it's own switch and therefore it's controlled (essentially the noise) by the drive mode switch in the central console.

Thus if you're in drive mode comfort, it's quieter and louder in sport?

Reason I ask is, I never drive the car in this comfort setting.

I press the drive mode switch to sport, which (because I've adaptive suspension) I've configured for sport drivetrain (better throttle response) and comfort chassis.

If I'm right, I assume on this sport setting it will always be noisier?

Not a bad thing for me wink

But I may need to consider passengers.

Thanks for any replies.

The valves open config is basically a straight pipe after the cat. thumbup

Out of curiosity, what part of the sport mode do you enjoy if you prefer the soft suspension?

Throttle response is better.
I've been driving for 24k miles a E46 M3 and in didn't find the 340i's entire comfort setting had a sharp enough throttle.

I'm still on RFTS so find comfort makes it glide over bumps. With the entire sport suspension setting I find the ride a bit of a "halfway house", not really sporty as a M, perhaps obviously. But not sufficiently comfortable as I'd want from a daily driver.
Hence, I'm in the camp that says Adaptive M Sport Suspension is a must have.

Yeah that makes sense. I do find it a little annoying that you can't have a fully personalised profile like VAG cars allow you to do. I'd love to have the comfort gearbox with sport steering/exhaust/throttle.

340 Touring with Adaptive suspension and MPPSK is as close to the perfect family fun wagon as you can get... I had a few slight concerns about the

additional noise from the MPPSK (when not in the mood) before I had it fitted, but I needn't have worried as you can almost control the noise with you're

right foot... Lift off quickly in sport or sport plus for drama.. Lift off gently and she's as meek as a lamb... Comfort mode is roughly the same noise as pre

MPPSK.... BMW engineers are very clever people and they got this spot on.... turns a great car into an excellent one.

Thanks . I’ll try and be a bit more sedate in sport wink
