5 series shock absorbers

Car is 520D F11 with rear air suspension. MOT fail on rear n/s shock excessive oil leak.
Does it have a rear shock at all?
Did they mean front shock?
Why is official shock absorber £200+ yet there are generics out there at £40
Anyone recommend and after market version rather than pay £400 over for the "real" thing?

Yes, it’ll have shock absorbers as well as the bags, the bags replace the spring part of the suspension etc...

Generics at £40 will be ste at best

Suss out which suspension you have via looking on RealOEM & look at the likes of Sachs, Monroe, Boge, KYB, Bilstein etc

It's one of those things that people will tell you to do in pairs. Very easily replaced on the F11.
