I'm considering an M135i to replace my aging GTI. It is clear from the sale prices that a brand new £40k car doesn't hold up well against a second hand 4,000 miler at £32k, so I was wondering if any of you guys have seen, or accepted competitive offers on a new car in the mid to low £30k range, to avoid me pulling the trigger on buying used if brand new can be picked up for a couple of k more.

If you are a teacher/NHS/armed forces, or a close family member is, then look at the BMW park lane scheme. They have an offer of £399 deposit, £399 a month on a new one. I think that makes the starting point early £30k's, but before any options.

Yep, BMW UK Forces (Park Lane) or TRL are your best bets. If you are eligible for the UK forces discount it WILL blow everything else out the water. Doesn't necessarily have to be you, it could be a member of your family working for any of the relevant services.

Great little car contrary to general PH opinion, driven two and thoroughly enjoyed it but we needed something bigger.

In my opinion they also need leather - the standard seats although comfortable look shabby really easily and bring the otherwise smart cabin down.
