40K on clock
When powering up check engine light comes on
Car starts and runs but pulsing badly with the DSC flashing
Stays like this basically un driveable unless when I pull away in first I accelerate fast through to second then the DSC becomes solid along with the ABS and engine warning light both coming on and solid.
I drove this for 100 miles with these lights on with no issues, stopping at lights etc all good.
Any advice / thoughts would be appreciated.

This happened on my old 120i. It’s was the abs rings I think.

Get the codes read; find someone with access to decent BMW code software (Carly for BMW at a minimum) and see what codes are thrown up (new & cached old codes)

It could be an ABS issue, could be that and other things too, so no point in guessing etc

Find a decent local indy mechanic that's versed in working on BMWs and they should have decent scanning tools to help etc

Had the same issue on our 2009 model, it was the ABS rings (reluctor?) on the driveshafts. Removed, cleaned the shaft, replaced with new reluctor rings (from ebay), cleared the codes, perfect ever since.

This. But be aware the shafts are fond of seizing in the hubs. There will often be no fault code stored, but live data diagnosis will soon spot it.

I don’t think this is the op’s fault - reluctor rings issue shows up whilst driving above 40, the OP seems to suggest it’s when the engine started it runs badly and if it’s running badly enough it will put on dsc light as the ability to reduce throttle power is part of the traction control. So I reckon he just has a really bad misfire

Bought an OBD 2 Today
Brought up the following
P0365 Which I believe is Camshaft Position Sensor fault
Also in the communication
CAT not ready
02S not ready
H02S not ready
EGR not ready
Other items ready or N/A

Which reader as generic ones are generally crap at best?

As already said, it needs to be BMW specific, so INSTA, bimmercode, Carly for BMW etc ideally

I reckon there is more codes you are not seeing.

It’s probably not the sensor at fault either - more likely a faulty solenoid or vanos hub - u can remove and clean the solenoids quite easy and then swap it with the inlet one and see if the fault transfers over.
