Hi guys,

I have an F15 40d.

Does anybody else with the same/similar model notice when you come off the throttle at around 1500-2000 revs, there’s is some slight jerking/vibration as the revs are dropping back down? It seems to happen just as the revs drop back down past 1500rpm. It’s particularly noticeable when driving around town and you’re only applying light throttle on and off around that region.

It almost feels like a misfire, but it can’t be.

At first I thought it was just bumps on the road coming through the chassis but it’s definitely something in the driveline - it's consistently repeatable.

Cheers

I have a 2016 model with c.50k miles and havent noticed what you are experiencing. The gearbox seems a bit dimwitted sometimes when slowing down at a junction and then accelerating but other than that I cant really help.

I have a 50i F15 and have been told that they do suffer with transfer box issues around 50k miles. A change of oil and re-adaptation of the box to account for the former usually solves jerky drivetrain behaviour.

It's only covered 27k miles - It's under warranty so might just stick it in to BMW and see what they - probably to be told they can't feel anything.

It's on Continental SportContact 5's.

Cheers.

Are the front/rear tyres within 3mm of each other? My X3 had a slightly different issue with pulling away but the symptoms sound similar. Buying new tyres that evened up the tyre wear fixed the issue for me.

I ended up with a new transfer box from BMW under warranty. Same symptoms as OP. Luckily the warranty company - BMW - picked up the tab. £7500+ all in for a new transfer box...
