Looking to get a set of winters this year and looking at Ebay via Germany.

My 530D SE Touring is on 19s with different sizes front and rear.

My question is can I run a set of winters 17/18 with the same sizes front and back (which is what most of the german sets seem to be)?

Also if they have the TPMS do I need a main dealer to sync them with the car and if no TPMS will I just get a constant error?

Thanks

You need to ensure that the smaller wheels will clear the calipers; IIRC on the G3x range they need to be 18 or 19" minimum

MrWinterWheels is a good website for alloys & winter tyres FYI; worth having a look on there

I have the 540i m sport with the larger blue m sport brakes and 18's just fit and non staggered is the way to go for winter setup.

The discs on the 530 m sport are slightly smaller so 17's might just clear the calipers however I would go 18's as your better off with more clearance. I ran 17's on my last car and small stones (grit) would get trapped between calliper and wheel and would score the inside of the wheel.

I also ordered from Germany via ebay and for official BMW wheels was a no brainer re cost and service. The tyre pressure monitors were picked up by the car when I fitted them, no need for a dealer as I simply reset in idrive. I used them in val T last winter (Goodyears) and they were amazing, never needed the snow chains.

Thanks-18s the way to go then.

The german ebay sellers seem pretty well used and reviewed so will get a set with the tpms.

Of course we will almost certainly get another mild winter.......

They'll still be so much better in the wet than any summer tyre and you know we'll get colder temps; 8ºC and down, these tyres come into their own smile

Wouldn't be without my winter alloys & tyres thumbup

On start-up my 320d gives a message that it can't read the pressure, but you cancel it and nothing more happens until the next start-up.
For the previous 60-odd years before I got this car I monitored tyre pressures myself and have no problem continuing to do so!
