How do you verify mileage on cars apart from HPI and what do you look out for?

DVLA website will give all MOT mileages, BMW UK will give all service mileages.

Is it not really difficult to falsify a digital readout? I was always led to believe that unless you worked for BM or something and had correct software, it couldn't be done without traces left?? Unlike like the manual ones where a drill or screwdriver done the job!

Also as far as I'm concerned MOT's don't mean a thing, back in the day when all this was easy, people used to wind the clocks back a bit just BEFORE an MOT?. you know, knock a few miles off every year before the MOT was due so it gives the impression that the car is low mileage (but not more than the car has done the year before obviously) So it always used to confuse when car sellers used to say they had all MOT's to prove mileage!!! Bo***x lol. but now you rarely see older cars with low mileage as i thought it was impossible to falsify them???

Ended up buying it chaps.

It was immaculate and I had no reason to believe it was false. The garage was spot on, probably one of the best sales experiences I've had outside of the main dealer network.

It’s surprising easy for someone to tamper with the mileage on digital readout as and it’s become really common with lease cars with small mileage allowances to be changed before handing back or have a mileage blocker device fitted so miles never go up in the first place

A BMW will store the mileage in a number of places, and a carly adapter is the cheapest way to check. It can be fiddled, but not very easily. I'd be more concerned about log book loans and whether the seller has clear title to sell the car than whether the mileage has been fiddled.
