X3 2017/18 Models
Discussion
Looking at getting one of these but can see that there is a facelift/new model late in 2017.
Is this a facelift or new model, and is it worth the extra?
Also probably going to hold out for the 3l car as that is what I have in the 5 and it is such a nice power train.
Any advice on wether I shoudl save the money on the earlier car (built in nav screen) or go to the later one (screen stuck on top of dash)
Also the majority are the 2l is this just OK or is it totally fine?
Thanks

New model introduced in 2017. I have a 40D and I think the diesel suits the car with plenty of low down torque. 2.0d is 192PS so not underpowered as such. Petrol engine naturally take a bit more revving.
I think early G01 (2017 on) will have iDrive 6 touchscreen mounted as you say on top. iDrive 7 is 2019+. Look for a March 2016 onwards car with the latest iDrive NBT system.
Have the G01, 2019 plate, X3 M40i (3L petrol). So pretty much what you are after but with iDrive 6 (very few 2019 plates have iDrive 7, most are 2020+ so didn't fit my budget).
She is unreal. Definitely happy with the purchase, not the most economical fuel wise, but bloody hell, she is rapid. That engine sound is an absolute beast (and bear in mind, this is the m40i, not the M).
Several Youtube videos on it, people who are definitely more car experienced than myself, and the B58 engine the X3 G01 runs with, is considered as one of the absolute best on the market. It features in a few 40i models, but it is a proper machine.
I decided against diesel just on personal preference (re-sale in the future, some areas coming down on diesels etc).
Think what packs you would want, i got Tech pack which has the HUD, if you're running iDrive 6 or earlier it's well worth having the HUD for SatNav directions (iDrive 7 has SatNav on the console dash).
Overall though, 0-60 in 4.8secs, a family car which i needed but a hell of a lot of fun to drive too.
