Just a couple of questions, as i've had a google and can't find any solid answers for them.

Firstly in regards to audio equipment, on a 10 plate E92 with "BMW Professional radio/CD/MP3", is anyone able to tell me if it's Bluetooth connectivity for the audio, or an AUX in? I've read it has Bluetooth telephone connectivity, but no mention about it being used for audio. It has iDrive and Pro Nav if that's of indication as to what infotainment system it's equipped with.

Secondly, is this era of BMW on digital service records, or a service book?

Thanks in advance thumbup

Service book for this generation.

Not sure I understand your music question, but when I had a 2009 ,59 335i, I didn't have the fullest audio functionality. And there was always talk about whether later cars 2010 built onwards, I believe, had the combox. as standard.

Maybe yours hasn't?

Here's an explanatory link if it helps your googling

I'm no expert but it is likely to be BT for calls and aux for music unless it was specced with the additional capability. My son has a 58 plate E92, also with iDrive and Pro Nav, and he bought one of these which plugs in under the armrest and allows him to stream music from his phone at the same time as using the eisting in-car BT capability to make and received calls.

I've got a '61 plate E92, mine does USB audio (USB lead in armrest) and also Bluetooth audio. The USB audio is more functional though - let's you search tracks, select playlist, shows cover art, etc. etc. from the iDrive. I believe the relevant options (which I have) are:

USB audio:
6FL USB Audio Interface
6NF Telephone USB Audio Interface

Bluetooth audio:
633 Enhanced Bluetooth telephone function

Hope that helps

The 58 plate I mentioned above has

609 Navigation System Professional
633 Prep.mob. Ph. Business Bluet.interf.

So maybe 633 was upgraded sometime between '08 and '12 and/or 6FL/6NF brings some non-USB enhancements as well?

Guess so, nothing else in my options that looks related. Mine is LCI though so must be some enhancements in there. Also 633 was £450 (excl. VAT), so it must do something good!

My 10 plate E90 (production date 2/2/10) has options S609A ("Navigation system Professional") and S633A ("Preparation, mobile phone, Business"), and the Bluetooth is just for voice calls.

No arm rest USB port (there might be a 3.5 mm line in port there, I think?), no combox.

Well the particular E92 i was interested in, with the particular spec i mentioned, turned out to be a dud before i even got to it, but all useful information to know nonetheless as i'm still keeping an eye out for others. I'll look for an AUX port under the armrest, and a USB port (which will be in the same place?) if i go to look at another one. Thanks for the replies guys, much appreciated.

I’ve got a March 2010 E92. I seem to remember that 2010 was a year when at some point the combox (and with it streaming audio) became standard, or possibly included with upgraded audio packages.

Mine has the aux in the armrest (think they all have this) and a USB port but not streaming audio. So I can plug in a USB stick with MP3s on it or use a special cable (has a 3.5mm audio and USB to apple connector) to connect an iPod.

The streaming audio is better as you can use Spotify and use the steering wheel controls to skip tracks etc.

For me, some form of upgraded audio was more important as the standard is pretty poor. HiFi, Harmon Kardon or Individual Audio are the 3 upgrade options I believe.

My sons Nov/08 E92 has an aux and a cigar lighter under the armrest, no USB. He uses a cigar lighter adapter to provide USB power for the Tunai Firefly bluetooth receiver.
