135i coupe vs M135i hatch
Discussion
Hello
I am considering buying either a late model 135i coupe with the n55 engine or a M135i hatch and was wondering how to two cars compare and if anybody had experience of owning or driving both?
I have driven a M135i a couple of years ago, enjoyed it although was not so impressed with the steering. I have not driven the coupe although did own a 130i 7 years ago.
My questions are basically which is the better drivers car and is there much difference in reliability? The coupe is slightly better value being a year or 2 older although the practicality of the hatch would be good so it’s kind of even there. I do like prefer the look of the coupe. Do they both use the same n55 engine?
I am coming out of an E46 m3 so driver appeal is the main priority😀! I don’t think I want an e92 m3 as would prefer to lower my running cost. Wild card would be a Renault sport Megane.
Thanks

The big difference is the interior and the associated tech especially if you find an M135i with pro nav. Not very exciting but useful if a daily driver.
The M135i is a bit more powerful and is available with the ZF8 which is a cracking gearbox if you go down that route.
Externally, the coupe is a better looking car especially compared to the pre-LCI M135i. I think the late 135i’s got EPAS as well, so probably similar to the M135i in not being the best system out there.
