Hi, its first time ive joined a car forum so please be gentle as im a virgin.
I recently bought my X3 from an auction at a very good price. When i bought it i knew the lights on the dash where pointing to the TB actuator. Ive since had this diagnosed by a very good local/cheap BMW specialist.
I stripped the box down and changed the drive cog internally, unfortunately this did not remove the warning lights. I went back to the specialist who without charge rediagnosed that the actuator needs changing.
Im more than confident in changing this myself but would like any advice on the purchasing of the actuator.. Do i go for a Genuine BMW one made by Bosch for anything upward of £300 or do i chance one from Ebay costing anything from £59-£120.
I would be grateful if anyone could advise me on this decisionand and has anyone used the cheaper version and has it been a success.
Thanks,
Looking forwarding to the replies, cheers Dave

For something like this, I'd be going genuine BMW/OEM.

Boils down IMO to how bigger job it is?

I'd not want the hassle of changing something twice in quick succession.

Hi, thanks for the replies everyone.
Ive just fitted a BOSCH actuator which is the same as the original and its worked a treat, just wish id done it in the first place.
It was that easy to do i would gladly help anyone out instead of them having to pay the extortionate garage prices especially BMW.. at aprox £1500

Cheers Dave
