Buying high mileage x3 2.0 diesel auto?

Hi,

contemplating buying an x3 2.0 auto diesal.
2010 to 2013....around 120k miles.

good idea or bad idea?

Are they good for over 200k or do they have any serious issues at over 100k miles?

The timing chain is the big one. Could go at 100k, could go at 200k. It's a £1000 job before it goes pop, lots more afterwards. The rest of the car is pretty good though.

The 2011 X3 is nicer than the original, but a facelift E83 (first gen) is very decent.

My neighbour’s 2012 318d went at 88k, 2k miles before he was going to get the timing chain looked at!
