bmw 118d B47, remap as 120?

hi

as i understand it the 118d from around 2015 onwards has the same b47 engine as the 120d?

if so can 118d be remapped to same figures as a remapped 120d?

is there a way to know for sure if you have that engine and not one with a smaller turbo

OP, You don’t say where in the country you are based? In the Midlands there are the likes of Performance Torque who do a lot of remaps using a rolling road & in Manchester Dervtech whose website shows a stage 1 remap at 180 bhp (assuming yours is an E8x version). Evolve in Buckinghamshire are also widely spoken about & also have a rolling road.

Having done a quick bit of searching the injectors & turbo are different to those on a 120d by the way so could limit the remapping improvements.

from what ive read the turbo and injectors on most 118d and same as used on 120d? but some may not be

how to know for sure what engine a 118d is running?
