Hello I hope somebody can shed light on this for me, I purchased a BMW 3 series Mar 17, had engine rebuld about a year later.
The other day I had the red oil pressure lamp come on ,though showing normal oil levels.
Took it to my local garage they pulled a 30c1 fault off it, they did not have the equipment to check the oil pressure so I shall have to take it to another garage, will I get away with just a oil pressure valve replacement or would it be worse? I have had the oil changed since the rebuild every 6/7 months, I do less than a 1,000 miles a month.

any help please

Something with an N43 is my guess. Or an M10. (Not really).

I was going to say n43 then saw 2017 year, so that rules out n43 i think.

One thing for BMW homogonisalationism of engine platforms is it'll eventually take the guesswork on forum questions.

Edit, maybe the OP's "Mar 2017" may be when he bought the car not the year. Love a mystery.

I think stop driving the car. Replace the oil pressure sensor and see if that fixes it, then it will be the oil pump or worse they gave you a bad engine

318i or 320i then. It might be the pressure control valve behind the alternator. Does the light come on at idle after a good run when the engine is hot? If so, it may well be running too hot. An oil and filter change as well as replacing the thermostat can sort it.

OP goes to doctor:

"Doctor it hurts"

Doctor <shrugs> "what hurts & where"

Got to love these cryptic posts where we are left to assume exactly what car a person has.

LMAO

Welcome to my life.

Almost always followed by:

Doctor: How long has it being hurting for?
Patient: A while
Doctor: :-/

Start by replacing the 'stat. If the oil light doesn't come on otherwise it should be OK.
