Hi all,

just been reading the various posts about amps being drowned by poor seals in 4 series convertibles and BMW picking up most of the cost under warranty.

Sadly for me, I've managed to drown my own Harmon Kardon amp on a pre-facelift F31 today. Not a great day. A bottle burst in the boot and went into the rear left corner the amp sits in, shortly followed by audio stopping and "No warning tones" message on the centre console screen. Given it a thoroughly good dry out but would appear the damage is done (and hopefully it's just the amp, or something less expensive and not a whole host of damage).

Has anyone had to have this repaired before? The HK amp looks to be £500+ second hand and I'd assume its £££ new.

I'm Herts / London way if anyone knows of any decent places to get the work done.

Thanks,
Alex.

Hi mate,

Did you get anywhere with getting your amp fixed?

I have just done a similar thing and got water into it and now it’s not working at all?

Thanks

Perfect opportunity to replace the water damaged amp with an aftermarket plug and play Match-Up 7. Sounds way better than the HK. Plus you can relocate the amp if you want. Comes with the wiring etc. A few other variants out there too for the S688A set up. About £600 brand new. Worth it if you’re hanging on to it for a while.
